Conditions of Entry

1. Overview

These Conditions of Entry set out the terms and conditions Long-Steps Ballroom Dancing (ABN: 69 140 147 382) (hereafter referred to as LSBD) places on all customers accessing LSBD events.

These Conditions of Entry apply to all LSBD events, everywhere.

A customer accessing LSBD events indicates that they have had sufficient opportunity to access these Conditions of Entry and that they have read and accepted them.

If a customer does not wish to accept these Conditions of Entry, then that customer does not have to do so, but it may affect that customer’s use of and/or access to our events.

2. Venues of Operation

LSBD operates its events at third party venues. These Conditions of Entry are applied in addition to those imposed by individual venues. The exact application and enforcement of these Conditions of Entry may change depending on the venue of operation.

3. Refusal of Entry

LSBD may refuse entry to LSBD events to any person, and in particular to any person:

  • considered by LSBD to be violent, intoxicated, disorderly or quarrelsome;

  • not holding a valid LSBD membership, ticket or other form of entry pass as appropriate;

  • carrying items which have the potential to cause injury or nuisance;

  • who possesses or appears to be affected by an illicit substance;

  • who appears to be affected by an illness or injury likely to cause harm to others; or

  • who does not comply with these Conditions of Entry.

4. Restricted & Prohibited Items

A person may not bring the following items into LSBD events unless permitted by LSBD:

  • Any item, the improper use of which, is reasonably considered by LSBD as being able to cause injury, nuisance or offence to any other person attending the same LSBD event. Any such item may be confiscated by LSBD if subsequently found on that person;

  • Alcoholic drinks (unless attending a stipulated BYO event);

  • Animals (except guide dogs and other bona fide assistance animals);

  • Bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, skates, skateboards and the like;

  • Flares, fireworks, laser pointers;

  • Illicit drugs;

  • Weapons, guns & knives (or any other object that could be used as a weapon);

LSBD is not responsible for, and may not held liable by any person, for loss, theft or damage to any such restricted or prohibited items left by that person in or around LSBD event venues.

5. Conditions of Entry

A person admitted entry into LSBD events agrees to abide by the following Conditions of Entry

  • Customers are admitted into LSBD events at their own risk.

  • Some dancing and other activities are dangerous. Customers participating and viewing such activities do so at their own risk.

  • Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, is not permitted at LSBD events. Smoking must be conducted outside the venue in accordance with the individual venues designated areas, rules and stipulations. Customers who smoke inside venues during LSBD events, in areas other than the designated smoking areas, or who fail to obey a direction by LSBD to cease smoking, may be immediately evicted from LSBD events.

  • Where alcohol is sold by LSBD at an event, alcohol must not be taken away from that LSBD event.

  • LSBD encourages the safe, sensible and responsible consumption of alcohol by customers. Customers who are impaired or unruly due to intoxication irrevocably consent to being treated by LSBD in a manner appropriate to their degree of impairment or intoxication and must, to the extent permitted by law, indemnify LSBD from any losses, claims or proceedings suffered by LSBD as a result of such impairment or intoxication.

  • LSBD may not be held responsible for confiscated items (including alcohol).

  • Unless authorised by LSBD, customers must not enter any part of LSBD events that is restricted from public access.

  • Customers must not interfere with, obstruct or hinder LSBD or any activity conducted on the dance floor, stage, or performance.

  • Customers who cause a disturbance, are offensive, discriminatory, display anti-social behaviour, use foul or abusive language, make racial or threatening remarks or gestures, commit indecent exposure or refuse to comply with reasonable requests made by LSBD may be evicted.

  • Customers who exhibit signs of illness, including but not limited to coughing, wheezing, excessive sweating or fever, excessive sneezing or runny nose, bleeding, vomiting, or diarrhoea, may be evicted. Medical assistance may be rendered if appropriate.

  • The use of photographic, video or audio equipment for commercial purposes is not permitted within LSBD events.

  • Cameras including mobile telephones with camera interfacing, must not be used in areas such as change rooms, parenting rooms and toilets.

  • Customers bringing personal items into LSBD events do so at their own risk. LSBD may not be held responsible for any damage, loss or theft of a customer’s personal property.

  • Customers are required to take appropriate care for their health and hydration.

  • If an ambulance is required for medical treatment, the cost of such service will be at the customer’s expense.

  • Customers must not sell any goods or services or give away political, religious, advertising or promotional materials without the prior written consent of LSBD.

  • Customers may not conduct public surveys or opinion polls or solicit money, donations or subscriptions from members of the public, without the prior written consent of LSBD.

  • Littering is prohibited – customers are requested to use waste receptacles located around and within LSBD events.

  • Any person found mistreating, tampering, defacing or damaging LSBD property, the individual venue, or the surrounds will be evicted from LSBD events and may face prosecution.

  • Customers are requested to respect the parklands surrounding LSBD events and the neighbouring private homes, businesses and institutions by acting in an appropriate manner, not littering and not making excessive noise when exiting or entering LSBD events or associated car parks.

  • LSBD reserves the right to close the LSBD events gates regardless of whether or not all ticket holders entitled to admission have gained admission to LSBD events, if in the opinion of LSBD, the admission of further persons to LSBD events would or might endanger the safety of those persons who seek admission or have already been admitted.

  • Prams and strollers are generally permitted within LSBD events. However, due to space limitations and for the safety and enjoyment of all customers, LSBD may from time to time, control the number of prams or strollers permitted within LSBD events (restrictions apply for storage locations).

  • LSBD does not represent to any customer that they will find a space in LSBD events considered by them to be suitable for participating in or viewing the event.

  • To the extent permitted by law, by entering LSBD events, each customer agrees that LSBD, and their representatives, servants and agents, shall not be liable to that customer for any loss or damage, (including without limitation, loss or damage caused by the negligence of LSBD or its servants and agents and incidental and consequential loss or damage), arising in any manner wholly or partly from or in connection with his or her use of LSBD events.

LSBD may replace or vary these Conditions of Entry at any time and without notice.

6. Dress Code

For general admission and where dress codes have not been specified, customers are requested to, at minimum, be appropriately clothed for a public venue and:

  • footwear must be worn at all times;

  • customers must not wear or display items which bear offensive, racist, radical, fanatical, inflammatory, obscene, derogatory or provocative slogans, signage or logos; and

  • customers must not wear or display any item for the sole or dominant purpose of ambush marketing.

7. Liquor Licensing

Where LSBD operates events at which the sale of alcohol is provided, LSBD acquires an event specific special permit. Restrictions will apply. LSBD will operate in accordance all state laws.

Customers are reminded when entering LSBD events that:

  • it is an offence for a minor to purchase and/or consume liquor;

  • it is an offence to purchase liquor for, or supply liquor to, a minor; and

  • a person supplying liquor to a minor will be reported to police and penalties apply under the state Liquor Licensing Act 1990 (Tas).

8. Reporting a Breach

In the interested of keeping staff and customers safe, to the extent permitted by law, LSBD compels all customers to report instances of breach of these conditions of entry. Customers must report all instances of a breach, whether experienced or witnessed, to an appropriate LSBD staff member as soon as practicable after the breach.

As far as practicable to ensure a safe and satisfactory resolution to a breach, all reports of a breach are kept in confidence. In the case of more serious breaches, LSBD may reveal details of the reporting customer to relevant parties to ensure a just and satisfactory outcome is achieved. In these instances, the reporting customer will be duly notified and any objections taken into consideration.

9. Consequences of Breach

To the extent permitted by law, LSBD reserves the right to impart penalties as it sees fit for any breaches of these Conditions of Entry in line with the severity of the breach. Penalties may include, but are not limited to:

  • the issuing of a verbal or written reprimand;

  • the requirement of a verbal or written apology from offending parties;

  • the refusal of entry or eviction from a single LSBD event;

  • the suspension or cancellation of a customer’s membership (including all associated bookings);

  • a temporary or permanent restrictions placed on the events and services the customer can access; or

  • a temporary or permanent ban placed on the customer from all LSBD events.

10. Discretion

LSBD reserves the right to alter or waive any of these Conditions of Entry at its discretion on a case-by-case basis.
