"There is no point to samba if it doesn't make you smile."
Weekend Workshop - Katrina Samba
The Katrina Samba is a nice short Samba sequence that will have you up and bouncing to that classic beat in no time. While the sequence isn't long it has some challenging steps and quick transitions. From shadow bota-fogos to circular voltas this is Samba at it's best. Taught for the first time at Long-Steps in August of 2017 the sequence has become a pleasant and popular challenge for many dancers.
Over the course of the day we'll take you through the entire dance from start to finish. While some dancing experience would be advantageous, you don't need any special prior training to attend this workshop.
You don't need any special equipment and you don't need dance shoes. If you don't have dance shoes then comfortable shoes with soft soles that don't grip are recommend. Boots and strong gripping shoes are not advised.
We'll kick off the dancing at 11am, so be sure to arrive a little earlier if you need to change shoes or general attire. The day will be broken into 4 sessions, with a lunch break at the half way point.
