Quickstep - Week 3

  • Long-Steps Ballroom Dancing Kensington Street Glenorchy, TAS, 7010 Australia (map)

Picking Up The Pace

Following on from the Slow Rhythm last month, we’re going to up the speed a little, add in a couple of lock steps, and bingo - you’ve got yourself a Quickstep!

The Quickstep was developed in the 1920s and 30s to match the faster, jazzier music that was exploding onto the scene at the time. With its swinging movement and flashy steps, it remains popular with ballroom dancers to this day. In the Beginner Class, we’re going to show you the basic Quickstep moves – 12 steps affectionately called the “Dirty Dozen” – and the Pivot Turn to get your round those corners. You’ll be flying around the floor in no time.
