The Quickstep was developed in the 1920s and 30s to match the faster, jazzier music that was exploding onto the scene at the time. With its swinging movement and flashy steps, it remains popular with ballroom dancers to this day. In the Beginner Class, we’re going to show you the basic Quickstep moves – 12 steps affectionately called the “Dirty Dozen” – and the Pivot Turn to get your round those corners. You’ll be flying around the floor in no time.
