Grand Opening - Mondays in Ranelagh
As a result of the success and community support for our Wednesday classes down in the Huon Valley, Long-Steps is proud to announce the commencement of a second Ballroom Dancing class.
The class will operate in the same way as the current Wednesday class. It will commence on Monday the 3rd of September and run weekly every Monday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Entry will be $15 per person.
How It Works
The beginner class starts with the basics and works upwards at a nice easy pace. The class is 90 minutes long and is roughly divided into 2 halves.
In the first half of the class we teach short progressive style dances that get everyone up and dancing in no time at all. These dances generally take 15-20 minutes for new dancers to learn and we rotate and revisit them regularly to reinforce the basic techniques in all of them. As dancers learn more and progress with their dancing we add a bit of colour to the dances; so, there is always something for everyone.
In the second half of the class we teach 1 new dance each calendar month; that gives us 4 or 5 sessions of about 45 minutes each. These dances are predominantly sequence based so dancers can all learn the same pattern of steps. Even when we teach Modern and Latin dances in this class a routine for the whole class to learn will be choreographed, and then students can adapt and reshape it as they become more confident and experienced.
Locks and Boxes
Welcome to the start of our Monday Beginner’s Class in the Huon Valley! We’re going to start you all off with the beautiful Festival Glide. This New Vogue dance is in the Foxtrot rhythm style, so we can look forward to some smooth, easy-going dancing.
This is the perfect dance to start with if you’re new to dancing, as it’s not a very long sequence, but it introduces you to some very useful steps like locks, chasses and boxes that will come in handy as you continue your dancing journey. We do hope you enjoy it.
